Android app for messengers
With the Android app “DM ME”, there is now an app that shows which contact uses which messenger. The app works like a kind of “phone book for Messenger”. There are a few Android devices that come with this function as standard. But some do not. Depending on the model.
There are a few things to consider. 1) The respective messengers must be installed on your device. Only then can they be displayed. The app is really just a kind of phone book and not a replacement for messenger apps. 2) In order to be able to display the names of the contacts, the address book is also read out – as with almost all messengers. However, initial research shows that the app does not appear to send any data. The address book is therefore only read out on the user’s own device. However, I cannot guarantee this. There is always a residual risk.

Government demands user verification for messengers
And every day the groundhog greets us. At regular intervals, politicians call for some kind of registration and disclosure for messengers. In my opinion, however, this is more bluster. So far, all attempts of this kind have failed – both technically and legally. Personally, I think that this simply reveals the lack of knowledge that many politicians have about the digital world. They haven’t even managed to implement an e-mail with fixed registration (DE-Mail). So I’m not worried for the time being.
